SM Frontier was Sanseisha’s flagship bondage and fetish magazines of the 1970s, combining fiction, essays, kinbaku photography, and illustration.
Its early issues are especially prized for covers by Tsuyoshi Yamagata, radically different from the usual SM aesthetic; after a brief return for a few SM Fan covers in 1975, Yamagata disappeared from the scene.

Scarce today, the magazine stands as a key document of Japan’s evolving SM press.
