S&M Sniper is a renowned Japanese magazine dedicated to the exploration of BDSM culture, with a focus on shibari.
Launched in September 1979 by editor-in-chief Masafumi Sudo, it stood out by skipping professional rope artists—its own team directed the bondage scenes.
Over the years, S&M Sniper featured contributions from major cultural figures like photographer Nobuyoshi Araki and author Dan Oniroku.
A defining element of the magazine was its cover art by Yosuke Onishi.

The first three years of S&M Sniper are the rarest and most visually striking.
